The wedding celebration
Notaries are aware of the importance and solemnity of a marriage celebration. A very specific legal process must be followed when one wishes to marry in Quebec. Your notary will be able to guide you so that all the requirements are met.
The ceremony will take place at your notary's office and will include all the legal requirements for the celebration. The notary will quote the articles of the Civil Code of Québec that determine the rights and obligations of the spouses. After the exchange of consent, the spouses will be declared united by marriage. During the ceremony, the spouses and witnesses will sign the marriage declaration form which will be sent to the Director of Civil Status.
